Community Games

The Community Games are a series of sporting events run across the West Midlands and South Staffordshire.

We bring together families and local sports clubs to create opportunities to try different sporting activities regardless of age or ability.

The aim is for both children and their parents to be able to experience clubs and sporting activities that are on offer in their local area; all in a safe, fun, and friendly environment.

At each event both adults and children can collect stickers for trying different activities which earns them their very own medal to take away with them. Buddy, our Community Games mascot, is also on hand to make the day as fun as possible.

The aim of each day is simple – to bring a community together to get active, have fun and be inspired!

If you’ve felt inspired, we’d love to welcome you to one of our events. Find your local event here.

How it all began

It is impossible to overstate the importance that physical activity has in communities, and especially for young people.

It’s March the 15th 2010 and I’m driving my car listening to a radio bulletin about this new idea of Community Games happening before the London 2012 Olympics, and I thought to myself I’m starting one! Little did I know then just how fantastic a journey it would and continues to be with our annual Community Games events still going as strong today as we head into our 14th year

So far, we have connected thousands of people over the years with activity providers, inspiring plenty of health and happiness along the way, in safe and friendly environments. A core voluntary team, with their own personal community values at heart, underpin this and make it happen on every occasion.

Knowing and working with them is a wonderful experience. Everyone gives oodles of love, support, and care because they all believe it matters, and activity does matter, through the pleasure it can bring to people in using their own energy, in making friends, with winning and losing, through challenging themselves or through being part of a team and developing a sense of belonging.

In 2024 we’re continuing with our mission to inspire health and happiness through physical activity with another timetable of Community Games events.

Our wish is to create a legacy of fitness and belonging for them.
